Part  32  - Andy 14:00 Sunday afternoon

Andy slid his key into the lock and tried to open the door quietly.  He hoped to be able to make it to his bedroom without anyone noticing.

“Darling, is that you?” his mother called.

“Yes, mum.”

“Do you want something to eat?  We’re just finishing lunch.”

“No, mum.”  Andy was starving.  Apart from a piece of toast he’d grabbed at Aunt Jane’s he hadn’t eaten anything since the reception last night.  He’d planned to try and get something later.

“Well come through anyway.  I haven’t seen you since yesterday afternoon.”  Andy went into the dining room.  His father, mother, brother and his brother’s girlfriend were all seated.   There was a space for him.   He gave his mother a peck on the check.  “Hi Dad.   Hi bro.”

“Sit down.  Are you sure you wouldn’t like anything?”

“Well maybe a little.”

“You can serve yourself.  It’s only a vegetable casserole.”

Andy started to help himself.  He was conscious that all eyes were on him, particularly his brother’s girlfriend.

“I love your hair darling,” said his mum.  “It suits you.   I thought it was you in the salon yesterday with Jane.”

“And I like how you’ve done your eyes.  Eyeliner looks so good on you,” said his brother’s girlfriend.  “You must show me how you do them.   Love your choker too.”

Andy cringed.  He knew he couldn’t do anything about the slave collar or his hair but he’d totally forgotten about his make-up.  He’d touched it up at Mr.V’s and before getting into  bed with Jane but it hadn’t occurred when he was leaving his Aunt’s house.   As he picked up his cutlery, he stared down at his hands.  Bright crimson nails.  He looked up, smiled sheepishly at the family members round the table, and gave a shrug.

“Don’t worry Andy.  You look great,” said his brother.  “If a little tired.”

“That reminds me, Andy,” said his mother,  “William called this morning.  He wanted to know whether you'd like to go the cinema.   He said that there’s a new Keira Knightley film out and wondered if you wanted to go.   He was wondering about Monday evening.  I said you’d call back.”

“Oh!  But I was hoping to go round to Aunt Jane’s tomorrow evening to see how she was.”

“Isn’t Jane well?  I can go round this afternoon.”

“No, I wouldn’t do that,” spluttered Andy still trying to chew his first mouthful. “She’s just very tired after a long night.  We didn’t get back till late.”

“OK, if you’re sure,” said his mother.

Andy was still chewing his first mouthful when his phone bleeped.  He pulled it out of his pocket.

“Do you have to?” said his father.

“Sorry, dad.  It’s just a text.  Can I just read it and then I’ll put it away.”  Andy unlocked the phone and looked at the screen.  It was text from a number he didn’t recognise.  “Thank you for giving me your number.   You are gorgeous.  Thank you for a lovely evening.  Loved talking to you.  I would really like to see you again soon.  How about Monday?   H xxx”.    A WhatsApp came in while he was reading Mr.V’s message.  “Hi Andy.  Sorry about my bad manners yesterday.  I thought you looked gorgeous.  I told India. We’d like to go out with you tomorrow evening.  Please wear your make-up.  Nic x”.

Andy put his phone back in his pocket.  He put his head in heads.  How could he be in four different places at one time?   “Help Professor Heisenberg,” he muttered under his breath.   “Please, help.”

    1. So many options. So much uncertainty. You're nearly at the end. It finishes with Part 33.
