Part 24 - Rebecca 21:55 Saturday evening

“It’s now or never, Harry,” Rebecca barked into her phone.   “How high would you be prepared to go?”

Rebecca waited.

“Well three thousand three hundred is the record bid so far. That was last year.  Would you go that high?”

Another pause.

           

“Really?   Four thousand!   Are you serious?” 

Rebecca was shocked.

“OK, Harry.   What if it went above four thousand?” she queried.

“Can I just check that?   You’d give me discretion up to five thousand.”

Rebecca waited for confirmation.

“That’s fine.  If you’re sure.   I can go up to five thousand.  I repeat five thousand but no higher.   Well it’s unlikely ever to get to that.   As I said, three thousand three hundred is the record.  She may go for a lot less.   Can you let me have your debit card details, please?”
